Reader Rex

Grandpa has been teaching me to read. He even made me a special book all about ME! Everytime I go to his house he has new pages in it. It's getting very long! I thought I'd share my story with you. Mommy says I got ants in my pants toward the end of the video, but I didn't see any.

Rex vs. The Rabbit

Well, Mommy and I had an eventful day yesterday, so I thought I'd tell you all about it.

Mommy got me all dressed up in some snazzy clothes. She told me we were going to meet the Easter Bunny. I was so excited, especially since Mommy's been telling me how the Easter Bunny is the one in charge of bringing me candy.

The whole way there I just couldn't stop talking about going to meet the Easter Rabbit.  I even practiced my smile for my picture with him.  We got to the mall and walked to the Easter display.  The Bunny was right around the corner.  Well, as soon as I turned the corner, I came to a dead stop.  This was NOT what I thought the Easter Bunny would look like.  I thought it was going to be a little rabbit.  Instead it was this really tall Bunny...even taller than Daddy!  I did not like the look of him.  He just kept smiling at me, and wouldn't say anything.  Well, it was then that I changed my mind.  I would NOT be going anywhere near that thing, and especially not taking a picture on his lap.
Mommy tried her hardest to talk me into it.  She told me we could go ride on the carousel, go to the playground, and get ice cream after.  It was so tempting that I nearly fell for her bribery.  But each time we got close to the Bunny, I plopped myself down on the floor and would not move.  Next, Daddy showed up and tried to reason with me.
Mommy thought maybe I needed a full stomach so we went to eat lunch.  We sat right by the carousel while we ate.  I wanted to ride it so bad!  As I ate my corn dog nuggets, I started to think it over.  I do love candy, and when I left the Easter Bunny, he was crying.  If I make him sad, he might not bring me any Peeps.  So I announced that the Easter Bunny was now my best friend and I showed Mommy my big smile that I was going to use in my picture.
We went downstairs, back to where he was sitting.  It happened again.  I took one look at him and just could not bring myself to get close to him.  Finally, I got up enough courage to give him a high five.  It wasn't so bad.  I decided I would sit next to him...it was just going to be for a few seconds, right?  Well, the longer I sat next to him, the more I realized he was pretty nice.  Before you know it, I was on his lap, hugging him and smiling big for the camera!

Now, the Easter Bunny and I are buddies.  And since I took a great picture, I got all the things Mommy promised:

I even went shopping with Mommy and made a couple of lady friends:

I can't wait until Easter now!  I bet that Bunny will give me all kinds of presents and candy!

City Park

Memaw and Pepaw took us to City Park in New Orleans today.  It was a lot of fun.  We walked around Storyland.  I got to ride on a train and a carousel!  Then, we had a picnic lunch.  I had a great time.  I'll let the pictures say the rest:

"Well you know that it's going to be alright...

...when we go shopping"

Those are the lyrics to a song called "Shopping" by a band called the Barenaked Ladies...isn't that silly.  I love that song so much.  Here's some clips of me performing it!

Picture Perfect

For those of you who don't get Mommy's facebook updates, here are some pictures from the last couple of weeks.

Fishing with Daddy

It was such a beautiful day outside today.  Mommy thought it would be a good idea for me to go fishing for the first time.  So we went out to Walmart and picked out my ver own fishing pole, a Cars one...I love that movie!

When we got home, Dad showed me how to cast my line and reel it back in.  We walked out to the pond to give it a go.  I didn't catch anything (Daddy caught a big stick, though), but I had a great time!

The Typing Tyrannosaurus

With Grandpa Rick's help, I have been learning to read a lot of words. So far I can read the words Mommy, Daddy, G.G., Grandpa, Memaw, Pepaw, Rex, nose, eyes, teeth, toes, belly, fingers, neck, cup, and car!

Now that I can read so many words, I figured it's time to learn to write them too. I haven't quite gotten the hang of controlling a pencil, though. So I am practicing on Daddy's computer. Here's a video for you:

Storyteller Rex

I love reading books with Mommy before bedtime.  Tonight, I thought I'd help her out by acting out the story.  Please enjoy Mommy and Rex reading the book, I Love You Through and Through.

Knock Knock

So, with G.G. and Grandpa Rick's help, I have been developing a nice repertoire of knock knock jokes.  Mommy thinks some of them don't make sense, but I think they're hilarious.  I always have to laugh myself after telling them.  Here are some that I like to say:

Knock Knock
-Who's there?
Orange
-Orange who?
Orange, orange say banana!

Knock Knock
-Who's there?
Boo
-Boo who?
Don't cry!

Knock Knock
-Who's there?
Ketchup
-Ketchup who?
Ketchup in the morning

Knock Knock
-Who's there?
Grits
-Grits who?
Grits at JoJo's!

Do you know any great knock knock jokes you can teach me?

Sorry Slacker

Yes, folks.  I have not blogged since November.  I have been slacking, and I am sorry.

How about some awesome pictures to make up for it?

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom!

Hey folks,

I know it's been a while since my last post, but, to be honest, there's not been much to tell.  Same old, same old, you know?  Anyway, Here's a video of me reading and singing to one of my favorite books: Chicka Chicka ABC.

More Outings

Mommy and Daddy have been taking me places to celebrate the fall season.

Last weekend we went to "Harvest Days" at the LSU Rural Life Museum. I got to ride on a cart pulled by a horse. There were lots of people there showing how things were done in the "old days," like making cornmeal, weaving rugs, and more. I think my favorite part was pulling the whistle for a saw mill steam engine. I made Mommy and Daddy bring me 3 times to do it! I even got to meet up with my friend, Ava, and her family for some yummy lunch. Then, we went through the corn maze- if it wasn't for me, I think Mommy and Daddy would still be lost in it!

Here's the cart I rode in:

Working my way through the corn maze:

I found a friend in there!

This weekend we went to Boo at the Zoo at the Baton Rouge Zoo. I got to get all dressed up in my costume and go trick-or-treating all around the zoo. Well, a lot of other people thought that would be a good idea, too. It was very crowded, and we had to wait in line every time to get a treat. We didn't make it around the whole zoo, but I did have fun getting candy and seeing the animals.

Out and About

I sure have been having fun this week.

For one thing, Daddy is on vacation so we have been spending some quality time together. On Tuesday, he took me to a place called Jump and Jive. It has all these slides and things to bounce in called spacewalks. Daddy and I even went through an obstacle course and rode down a big slide together. It was a blast!

WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Then tonight, Mommy took me to storytime at the library. We met up with my cousin, Jacob. Jacob is so cool! I wanted to do everything just like him. That included crawling under tables, running around, making noise, and doing things that made Mommy make mean faces at me. Mommy helped me with the craft activity...making a woven placemat. And because it was a bilingual storytime, I got my very own Spanish book to take home!

Happy 40th Anniversary, G.G. and Grandpa!

Today is G.G. and Grandpa Rick's 40th anniversary! I've only been around for 2 years, so 40 sure sounds like a lot! Here's a little slideshow Mommy put together to celebrate the occasion. I told her she could put it here on my blog. :)

Oh My, Oh My, Oh Dinosaurs!

That is the name of one of my favorite books. I thought I would read it for you...

A Bushel and a Peck

Grandpa Rick has been teaching me this great song. I don't know all the words yet, but I'm getting there!

Prepare to be Scared!

A Bedtime Concert

Last night, I really was feeling the music in me. Here's a bit of the concert I gave to Mommy right before bed. It's not a video...just listen to my beautiful renditions of Pat-A-Cake, The Alphabet Song, I Love You (The Barney Song), and Twinkle, Twinkle. Enjoy!

Little Villain

I'm such a little villain. I've even come up with a special laugh....a lot of guys ignore the laugh, and that's about standards. You have to have a memorable laugh.

Anyway, when I know I'm not doing exactly what I'm supposed to, I put on my "evil voice" and give a "ha ha ha"! Maybe it's not a nice thing to do, but it makes Mommy and Daddy laugh.

Splash Park 2010

Mommy had been meaning to take me to the splash park this summer. Well, between the park being closed for a few weeks and the bad weather, we didn't get around to going until yesterday. Mommy said this wasn't my first trip to the splash park. I went a couple times last year. To be honest, I don't really remember those visits. But judging from this blog post, I didn't care too much for it last year.

Yesterday, when we got there and I saw the spraying water in the distance, I got so excited! I giggled the whole way from the parking lot to the sprayground. Well, when I made it to the splashing water, I must tell you I was a bit intimidated. It took me a while to warm up having water sprayed all over me. But after a while, I really started getting into it. It turned out that I really liked it and had an awesome time. Here are a few pics:

I also thought I'd share this video with you. I like to call it Rex vs. Water. I'm not exactly sure who won, though.

Mommy's Model

Mommy has been hard at work making different crochet projects. Today, I let her use me as her model.

It's cute and all, but I thought I'd add some extra flair...

X Marks the Spot

So I'm a few days behind with this post, but I want you all to know on Friday, July 23, I used the potty! Ok, so it was only a couple of drops, but Mommy sure thought it was a big deal.

We have been reading this special book called Pirate Potty. I learned some songs to sing while I sit on the potty:

"Yo-ho! Yo-ho! I'll wait until I go."
and
"Fi Diddle Dee Dee! I've got to make pee-pee!"

And did you know that pirates have potties that are black with an X that marks the spot? Pretty cool, huh?!

My Pirate Potty book came with a special hat. Each time I use the potty I get a special sticker to put on my hat. So here I am with my very first sticker:

I haven't earned another one yet, but I'm trying!

My 3rd 4th

Happy Fourth of July everyone!

This year, I spent the 4th with friends and family. We all met up at Mrs. Netty's house for a backyard BBQ. I had fun playing in her backyard. I really liked the fountain. This lounge chair was fun, too:

After my belly was full and my food settled, I got dressed in this silly thing:

Turns out it's a swimsuit. It has stuff inside that makes you float!

I also floated for a little while in this swim ring.

I wasn't scared of the water at all. In fact, I wanted to jump in all by myself. I got mad when Daddy wouldn't let me.

I worked up an appetite with all that swimming so it was time for a snack. I shared some of it with Grandma.

Here I am flying the American flag:

After all that fun, it was getting late, and I hadn't had a nap. Needless to say, I was a bit cranky so it was time to go.

Mrs. Netty had given me a special present, but I didn't get a chance to try them out yesterday. Mommy and I went outside today to play with them: my very own "fireworks"!

Chuck E. Cheesy

You might remember that I have not really been a fan of the giant rat they call Chuck E. Cheese and what I used to think of as his house of horrors.

Well, let me tell you. I am a changed man! Today I went for another visit, and I had A BLAST! Not only did I get in the rides, but I let Mommy and Aunt Lindsey turn them on! I rode a car, a bulldozer, and a horse! I even gave a little girl a ride on the bus!

Of course, my favorite is still the skee ball machine even though I can't really get the ball up to the holes yet.

Here are some pictures and videos for your enjoyment!
