The T-Rex Expedition

While Mommy was playing on the computer today, I decided to do a little exploring. Here are some highlights from my adventure.

Here's what the living room looked like when I was done.

Don't tell Mommy. I found my pacifier on the floor. I'm only supposed to have these when I'm napping. Oh wait. That's Mommy behind the camera. Uh-oh.

Paper is so fun to tear up.

Now, the living room is fun and all, but I wanted to see more. I needed to make sure I found my way back. I didn't have breadcrumbs so I used some other stuff to make a trail. I went from the living room to the kitchen, down the hall, into Mommy and Daddy's bedroom and bathroom, and then I made it back to the living room. Here's the trail I left behind.

A DVD from the living room and a soap dish from the bathroom ended up in the kitchen.

Here's part of a toy in the hallway and a DVD box I found in the living room which I drug into Mommy and Daddy's bedroom.

Another DVD made it into the bathroom. It's not in the picture, but I left a birthday card next to the toilet.

I don't think Mommy was as excited as I was about my trip. I heard her saying something about needing to close doors.

There's a Party in my Tummy

And the green beans are invited!

Copycat

After reading my friend Ava's blog (http://russellsprout.blogspot.com/2009/06/trying-out-my-cleaning-skills.html), I was inspired to do some cleaning of my own.

Or perhaps she's the one who learned it from me since I did the same thing at her house the other day.

Cheese!

Now that I'm getting to be a big boy, Mommy says it's time to eat more big boy food. Last night for dinner I had a grilled cheese sandwich. It was so yummy, I ate the whole thing! Well, I did save a couple bites in my chair for later.

My First Date

My babysitter is on vacation so it's just Mommy and me this week. Yesterday we went to my friend Ava's house for a playdate. I had lots of fun playing with her toys and taking all the books off her bookshelf. We even went outside for a dip in the pool. It was a blast. This is definitely a girl I'll ask out again. Next time, my place!

Girls talk too much! Just kidding! I don't really know why I struck this pose.

A Bit Off the Top

Mommy said now that I'm a whole year old, I'm a big boy, and I should have a big-boy hairdo. Today we went to a salon to get my very first haircut. I got to sit in a cool fire engine that made neat sounds and had flashing lights. I got to wear a silly cape too. I didn't mind my hair being cut until the stylist took out the trimmers. I didn't like that too much. And all the little hairs that she cut off started sticking to my face. They tickled. I know some of you will be sad that Mommy let them cut my curls off, but I really like my haircut. It's nice and cool for the summer. Afterward, we went to Sicilys for lunch. They asked how old I was. If you're four or older you have to pay for your food, and I guess I must have looked like I could be that old with my new haircut!

Here we go!

Not sure about this yet...

Being so patient

I don't like this part

All done!

I wonder if we can get one of these fire trucks at home

I look so grown up now!

Picture Perfect

My friend Ava's mommy took my one-year portraits. Here is a link for you to see some of them.

Double the Fun

What a great weekend it's been. I had two, yep two, parties to celebrate my first birthday.

The first party was Friday at daycare. It was a party for both Carli and me. We each got our own birthday cake. All the other kids made us birthday cards, and we got really cool presents.

Notice in this next picture Carli has no cake. She didn't like it very much. Also notice that my cake is now upside down.

I'm getting good at this cake thing. I've learned that the bigger mess you make, the more attention you get.

Carli and I practiced sharing. Here I am playing with her pink cell phone and she is playing with my book.

Today was my big birthday party. Here are some highlights.

Last night I found a present on the floor. I figured I'd get a head start on opening it. Ribbons are so much fun.

I got so many presents. Mommy and Caleigh opened most of them for me, but I sat very patiently and watched it all. Look at my new chair from Mommy and Daddy. Isn't it cool?

Remember to look at the card before you open the presents!

A cake for my guests:

And one just for me!

I ate my cake in, what else, my birthday suit!

Wow...so many awesome presents. Thanks everyone!

A new car! Thanks Grandma and Grandpa Marshall!

Just one of my many new toys.

Be sure to check out the rest of my pictures on my photo album!

Jump-A-... Huh?

Folks, there will be no more jumping in the Marshall house. Well, at least not in the jump-a-roo. Mommy and Daddy decided I'm getting a little too big for it and took it apart. To tell you the truth, I hadn't been having as much fun in it as I used to. I like to roam around the house these days. I still had fun playing with the pieces today! Anyway, I heard the bed makes a pretty fun place to jump. Can any of my fellow baby bloggers or cousins verify that?

Fun to be One!

Well, mostly fun...but let's not get ahead of ourselves.

Apparently, yesterday I had something called a birthday. For the most part it was like most other days except all day long people sang "Happy Birthday" to me. I like when people sing with me. I even join in sometimes.

For my birthday, Mom sent me to daycare. Yep! Well, you know, I really like daycare because there are other kids to play with like my girlfriend, Carli. Mom thought I would have more fun there than at home with her (And don't tell her I said so, but she was right).

But what really made me excited was that Mommy didn't come to get me; Grandpa Rick did! And when I got home G.G. and Mommy were waiting for me with more of that Happy Birthday business.

I got a birthday present...a new toy for the bathtub. Mommy says I'll get more presents at my party on Sunday. I also got to eat birthday cake! It's actually my 2nd of 4 birthday cakes! I had one for my 1 year portraits. I had the one yesterday for my birthday. I'm having one tomorrow at daycare because we're having a party to celebrate Carli's and my birthdays (hers is June 19). And I'm having one Sunday at my party! It just doesn't get any better than this! Anyway, the cake was yummy. I made sure to make a big mess, but I don't think G.G. liked it very much.

This morning we left the house bright and early to go see my doctor for my check-up. Here are the official numbers. I weigh 22 pounds and 13 ounces which is in the 50th percentile, and I am 30.5 inches tall which is in the 75th percentile. I am doing just about everything I should be developmentally, although we do need to work on talking a bit more. Don't get me wrong, I talk all the time. However, I'm supposed to start connecting the words and sounds I say with what they mean. The doctor was a little surprised that I didn't know at least two words yet. I've just been busy working on other things. I'll get there.

Of course no check-up would be complete without Mommy letting those nurses poke me with some needles. I got a shot in both legs which included the first round of a vaccine for chicken pox. What do chickens have to do with me?

So, overall, having a birthday is pretty awesome, and I haven't even had my party yet! You are coming, right?

Here are some pictures from yesterday. You can see them all at my photobucket album. In case you can't make it to my party on Sunday, I'll be sure to post a blog all about it.

All ready for bed on the last day of my first year!

The first pic of the day. Happy Birthday to me!

Come on Mom. Let's go already!

Off to daycare.

My first birthday present

Can someone open this for me?

What's the plate for anyway?

I know what it's for: to EAT!

Happy Birthday, Rex!

Mommy here. Has it really been a whole year?! I can't believe I'm now officially the mother of a one-year-old. I'm sure Rex will have a lot to talk about after today and Sunday (his party). I just wanted to wish him a Happy 1st Birthday!

Splish Splash

On Wednesday, I had my first wet day at daycare. Carli and I got a whole pool to ourselves! It was so romantic. We splished and splashed around for over an hour. It was so much fun; I can't wait until the next one!

Just Around the Corner

Folks, can you believe it's been just about a year! My birthday is next Wednesday, and I'm so excited! To celebrate, I'm having a party on Sunday the 14th. Be there or be square. Nannie Toni made my invitations which should be appearing in your mailbox soon if they haven't already. She did a phenomenal job.
