Chicka Chicka Boom Boom!

Hey folks,

I know it's been a while since my last post, but, to be honest, there's not been much to tell.  Same old, same old, you know?  Anyway, Here's a video of me reading and singing to one of my favorite books: Chicka Chicka ABC.

More Outings

Mommy and Daddy have been taking me places to celebrate the fall season.

Last weekend we went to "Harvest Days" at the LSU Rural Life Museum. I got to ride on a cart pulled by a horse. There were lots of people there showing how things were done in the "old days," like making cornmeal, weaving rugs, and more. I think my favorite part was pulling the whistle for a saw mill steam engine. I made Mommy and Daddy bring me 3 times to do it! I even got to meet up with my friend, Ava, and her family for some yummy lunch. Then, we went through the corn maze- if it wasn't for me, I think Mommy and Daddy would still be lost in it!

Here's the cart I rode in:

Working my way through the corn maze:

I found a friend in there!

This weekend we went to Boo at the Zoo at the Baton Rouge Zoo. I got to get all dressed up in my costume and go trick-or-treating all around the zoo. Well, a lot of other people thought that would be a good idea, too. It was very crowded, and we had to wait in line every time to get a treat. We didn't make it around the whole zoo, but I did have fun getting candy and seeing the animals.

Out and About

I sure have been having fun this week.

For one thing, Daddy is on vacation so we have been spending some quality time together. On Tuesday, he took me to a place called Jump and Jive. It has all these slides and things to bounce in called spacewalks. Daddy and I even went through an obstacle course and rode down a big slide together. It was a blast!

WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Then tonight, Mommy took me to storytime at the library. We met up with my cousin, Jacob. Jacob is so cool! I wanted to do everything just like him. That included crawling under tables, running around, making noise, and doing things that made Mommy make mean faces at me. Mommy helped me with the craft activity...making a woven placemat. And because it was a bilingual storytime, I got my very own Spanish book to take home!

Happy 40th Anniversary, G.G. and Grandpa!

Today is G.G. and Grandpa Rick's 40th anniversary! I've only been around for 2 years, so 40 sure sounds like a lot! Here's a little slideshow Mommy put together to celebrate the occasion. I told her she could put it here on my blog. :)

Oh My, Oh My, Oh Dinosaurs!

That is the name of one of my favorite books. I thought I would read it for you...

A Bushel and a Peck

Grandpa Rick has been teaching me this great song. I don't know all the words yet, but I'm getting there!

Prepare to be Scared!

A Bedtime Concert

Last night, I really was feeling the music in me. Here's a bit of the concert I gave to Mommy right before bed. It's not a video...just listen to my beautiful renditions of Pat-A-Cake, The Alphabet Song, I Love You (The Barney Song), and Twinkle, Twinkle. Enjoy!

Little Villain

I'm such a little villain. I've even come up with a special laugh....a lot of guys ignore the laugh, and that's about standards. You have to have a memorable laugh.

Anyway, when I know I'm not doing exactly what I'm supposed to, I put on my "evil voice" and give a "ha ha ha"! Maybe it's not a nice thing to do, but it makes Mommy and Daddy laugh.

Splash Park 2010

Mommy had been meaning to take me to the splash park this summer. Well, between the park being closed for a few weeks and the bad weather, we didn't get around to going until yesterday. Mommy said this wasn't my first trip to the splash park. I went a couple times last year. To be honest, I don't really remember those visits. But judging from this blog post, I didn't care too much for it last year.

Yesterday, when we got there and I saw the spraying water in the distance, I got so excited! I giggled the whole way from the parking lot to the sprayground. Well, when I made it to the splashing water, I must tell you I was a bit intimidated. It took me a while to warm up having water sprayed all over me. But after a while, I really started getting into it. It turned out that I really liked it and had an awesome time. Here are a few pics:

I also thought I'd share this video with you. I like to call it Rex vs. Water. I'm not exactly sure who won, though.

Mommy's Model

Mommy has been hard at work making different crochet projects. Today, I let her use me as her model.

It's cute and all, but I thought I'd add some extra flair...

X Marks the Spot

So I'm a few days behind with this post, but I want you all to know on Friday, July 23, I used the potty! Ok, so it was only a couple of drops, but Mommy sure thought it was a big deal.

We have been reading this special book called Pirate Potty. I learned some songs to sing while I sit on the potty:

"Yo-ho! Yo-ho! I'll wait until I go."
and
"Fi Diddle Dee Dee! I've got to make pee-pee!"

And did you know that pirates have potties that are black with an X that marks the spot? Pretty cool, huh?!

My Pirate Potty book came with a special hat. Each time I use the potty I get a special sticker to put on my hat. So here I am with my very first sticker:

I haven't earned another one yet, but I'm trying!

My 3rd 4th

Happy Fourth of July everyone!

This year, I spent the 4th with friends and family. We all met up at Mrs. Netty's house for a backyard BBQ. I had fun playing in her backyard. I really liked the fountain. This lounge chair was fun, too:

After my belly was full and my food settled, I got dressed in this silly thing:

Turns out it's a swimsuit. It has stuff inside that makes you float!

I also floated for a little while in this swim ring.

I wasn't scared of the water at all. In fact, I wanted to jump in all by myself. I got mad when Daddy wouldn't let me.

I worked up an appetite with all that swimming so it was time for a snack. I shared some of it with Grandma.

Here I am flying the American flag:

After all that fun, it was getting late, and I hadn't had a nap. Needless to say, I was a bit cranky so it was time to go.

Mrs. Netty had given me a special present, but I didn't get a chance to try them out yesterday. Mommy and I went outside today to play with them: my very own "fireworks"!

Chuck E. Cheesy

You might remember that I have not really been a fan of the giant rat they call Chuck E. Cheese and what I used to think of as his house of horrors.

Well, let me tell you. I am a changed man! Today I went for another visit, and I had A BLAST! Not only did I get in the rides, but I let Mommy and Aunt Lindsey turn them on! I rode a car, a bulldozer, and a horse! I even gave a little girl a ride on the bus!

Of course, my favorite is still the skee ball machine even though I can't really get the ball up to the holes yet.

Here are some pictures and videos for your enjoyment!

I'm Free!

They finally took the hint! After all the morning silliness of putting the laundry (and laundry basket) in my bed, throwing everything out of the bed, and ruining my window blinds, Mommy and Daddy decided it was time to make the switch to the big boy bed!

It all happened on Sunday at nap time. Mommy put me in bed, and I noticed the front of my crib that keeps me in was gone! Well, I decided I wasn't staying put. I went straight for the door. Little did Mommy and Daddy know, I figured out how to turn doorknobs to open them by myself! I escaped three times from my room! I went to escape a fourth time, but something went wrong...my doorknob wouldn't turn! I was a little mad about that, but then realized that I was pretty sleepy. I climbed in bed and settled down for a two hour nap. That night I slept the whole night through with no problems!

I did have one mishap the other night where I fell out of bed. I wasn't hurt; I didn't even cry. Mommy got me a bed rail though, so now I'm all secure.

I like having the freedom to get in and out of bed. The other night I decided to play a little bit before I went to sleep. Here's how Mommy found me when she went to check on me.

You see, I had been playing with my shoes when all of a sudden I got tired and decided it was bed time. I guess I was so sleepy I forgot I still had a shoe on.

Mommy got me a special present for being such a big boy. It's a soft choo choo train that I can sleep with! It even yawns and tells me good night!

More Morning Mischief

Do you remember this post from a few weeks ago?
Well, this morning I decided to switch things up.

Mommy and Daddy thought it was so funny so I decided to do it again at nap time.

I think I heard Mommy say something about moving the basket out of my reach. Rats!

Dressed for Success

I've been working really hard at learning to dress myself.

Hey! What's so funny?

Tech Support

Mommy here. I've made some changes to the photobucket site to make it a little cleaner. I thought I'd let you know a little bit about how it is now organized.

When you go to http://photobucket.com/cuteasaurusrex, you will not see any pictures right away. If you look on the left hand side you will see a list of sub-albums like 2008 pics, 2009 pics, 2010 pics. I've organized the 2010 pics into sub-albums as well so when you click on 2010 pics, again, look on the left hand side for the sub-albums.

I think this will be a change for the better. The pictures were all getting dumped into the same folder making them hard to sort through and way too much to look at at once.

As I make sub-albums for special events, I will make sure Rex includes a direct link to that sub-album in his blog post so that you don't have to go through all those steps. For example, in his latest post about his birthday party, he included a link at the end to a special album of all those photos. Try clicking on it if you haven't already!

I am also breaking up the everyday photos into 3 month sub-albums. So under 2010 pics you will see a sub-album named January-March and one named April-June.

Here's the direct link to April-June so you can check out his latest pics
. I am making the links go directly to the slideshow option.

One other thing: I tend to dump ALL the pictures I take onto the photobucket site. I use my facebook profile to upload just the best so if you want the abbreviated version you can always be my facebook friend and look there.

I hope this post was helpful. Let me know if you like the changes or have any other suggestions.

Rex's Mommy

Birthday Party!

On Sunday, I had a party at my house to celebrate my 2nd birthday. I had a blast spending the day with my family and friends. I got all kinds of awesome presents including lots of clothes, books, and toys. I got a train to ride on, a tricycle, and a piano. I even got my very own potty and big boy underwear!!! Mommy says she's scared to start potty training. At my party my friend Ava a I decorated our hats with dinosaur stickers and then wore them to go on a dinosaur egg hunt! And, of course, there was lots of food...my favorite were the number 2 cookies that Aunt Rosalie made. I ate so many that I didn't want any real food for lunch.

Thanks to everyone who came. I can't wait until the next one!

Here are some highlights from the day:

You can see all the pictures from my birthday and birthday party on the photobucket site.

I decided to practice my photography skills with Mommy's camera. Here are a few of my best shots...what do you think?

I even shot a little video...

Morning Mischief

Sometimes I wake up in the morning before Mommy and Daddy. I yell for them to come get me, but sometimes it takes them a while. Well, there's not much to do in my crib, and I get bored so I have to get creative. My new favorite game is to pull the dirty laundry from the basket through the slats in my crib.

Happy Birthday!

Today is my 2nd birthday! Can you believe I've been around for two whole years? I started out at 7 lbs, 14.5 oz and 20 inches long. Today I'm up to 28 lbs and 35 inches tall! Mommy read that my height at 2 years old is a good prediction of my adult height. If that's true I will be 6 feet tall! Anyway, I thought you would enjoy a look back at my first two years. Enjoy!

5 updates in 1

Okay people, I get it. I know you live and breathe for these blog updates, and you wish they would come sooner. Look. I'm almost two years old. I have things to do, places to go, and people to see. I blog when I can fit it in to my busy schedule. But you are all very special to me, so I'll try harder to post more often. How about a run-down of what's been going on these past few weeks...

Update #1: I'm ready for my close-up

I've decided I want to be a performer when I grow up. Actually, I'm not even going to wait till I grow up. I'm going to start right now. Mommy says even boys wear makeup on the stage so I've been learning how to put it on.

I've also been experimenting with costume design.

You may be wondering what kind of performing I do? Well, I'm a song and dance kind of man.

Update #2: Surgery

On May 27th, I had my 2nd ear tube surgery. I also had something called adenoids removed. Everything went well, and I was back to running around in no time. I can hear so much better now! The doctor hopes that this time I will outgrow my ear problems and not need a 3rd set of tubes. I hope so, too!

Update #3: No way, Jose

A week or so ago, Mommy and Daddy put the sprinkler on outside. For some reason they thought I would have fun running through it in my underwear. NO! I did not like it one bit! Aunt Kristi carried me and ran through it. I guess it was okay that way, but it's just not my cup of tea.

Update #4: A Dentist Dilemma

Today, Mommy brought me to the dentist. It was my first time. There were some nice ladies who wanted to look in my mouth and touch my teeth. Well, I didn't really want them looking in my mouth. They tried bribing me with a car toothbrush, a rubber glove, and dinosaur stickers. The Rex will not be bribed! I wanted to give it all back. Then the dentist, Dr. Paige, tricked me! I can't believe it! I thought she was just having fun and tickling me, but what she really was doing was tricking me into opening my mouth! Sneaky! Well, we left without my teeth getting cleaned, but she did tell Mommy that my teeth look great, and she'll see me again in six months. Hmph, we'll just see about that.

Update #5: Very Verbal

In the last couple of months, I have learned to say so many new things. I am constantly surprising Mommy and Daddy with the things I come out with. It took me a while, but I finally say "Mommy" and "Daddy" although I get them mixed up sometimes. I know all my letters and numbers. I can recognize and name a bunch of animals (even elephants and alligators), and I know what a lot of animals say (for instance, I know that frogs say ribbit and sheep say baaaa). I can name some shapes like triangle, circle, and star. Lately I've been saying "oh, cool!" a lot. That seems to get a good laugh out of people. But, of course, my favorite word of all is "Nooooooo!"

Well, that's all for now, folks. Oh yeah, one more thing. Don't forget that the big day is coming up next week. On June 10, I will be TWO years old! I hope to see you at my party!

Love ya,
Rex
